We are the Loehr family- Ross, Lianne “Nug”, Juniper and Lennox
We are a family of 4 who love travel, adventures and trying new things. This blog started back in 2011 to follow our travel and experiences as we dropped everything and took 14 months to travel the world and enjoy “retirement from our 20’s”.
A lot has changed over the past 10 years, but we’ve decided to give it another go and “retire from our 30’s”. This time we are taking off to hit the road with our 2 kids, (7-year old Juniper and soon to be 3-year old Lennox). We are looking forward to unplugging from the daily grind and spending time with the kiddos for the next 4-5 months.
We leave March 30, and our current return date is most likely going to be sometime in August.
We start in El Salvador and plan to unwind and recharge for several weeks. Then, we head to Costa Rica for a month. From there, we plan to spend a month or two in Europe and end our journey in Mexico before heading back home stateside around August.
“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do… Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails.
Explore. Dream. Discover.”
This quote was the inspiration for our last journey and speaks to me just as much today as it does when I first came across it nearly 20 years ago.
Ever since our last RTW trip, we have talked about a goal of clearing the decks and taking an extended journey every decade. It was a bit nerve wracking prepping for this journey with the kids and will definitely require more planning than our last expedition, but we decided it was worth taking a shot. We have packed our bags, rented our place in Atlantic Beach, and bought one-way tickets to El Salvador. A lot of this is TBD along the way and we are looking forward to the adventure

Ross and Lianne “Nug” Loehr
We are newlyweds who love travel, adventures and trying new things. This blog will follow our travel and experiences as we explore the world and enjoy “retirement from our 20’s”.
We leave November 13th and our current return date is yet to be determined. We expect to be away for the next 12-18 months.
We start in Rarotonga (Cook Islands) which will be our “honeymoon”. Next, we have several weeks in New Zealand and then we are off to Australia for a yet to be determined amount of time on subclass 462 holiday and work visas. From there we plan to work our way back west through Asia and end our journey in Europe before heading back home to the good old U.S.A.
“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor.
Catch the trade winds in your sails.
Explore. Dream. Discover.”
For several years we have been contemplating and discussing taking a year or more to pursue our dream of an extended overseas journey. We have packed, sold, or given away all of our stuff and bought one way tickets on Air New Zealand. The rest is TBD along the way!
